2012 Co-op Calendar Celebrates International Year of Cooperatives
This calendar commemorates 2012, the International Year of Cooperatives. The year’s distinction presents an opportunity to recognize the contributions that cooperative enterprises make to their members and communities. The cooperative model provides an organizational framework through which people create jointly-owned democratic enterprises to realize ends they may not be able to achieve as individuals: quality goods and services at a fair price for consumers, fair prices for farmers and ranchers, control and ownership for workers –examples of each of which are highlighted in this calendar.
Each calendar month highlights a particular cooperative business principle, and while each business ultimately incorporates all seven principles, the caption explains how the highlighted principle is exemplified.
This calendar is presented as a celebration of cooperatives and some of the significant people, institutions, and events that fueled their development.
